Pettersson Leads NCAA East Regional Golf Tourney, Wolfpack Fifth

Moosic, PA (May 19) - NC State senior Carl Pettersson fired his second consecutive 69 despite playing through bad weather May 19 to sit alone atop the leaderboard at the NCAA East Regional Golf Tournament being held at Glen Maura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa. Pettersson's four-under par 138 gives him a three-shot lead over Virginia's James Driscoll (141) and Jonathan Byrd of Clemson (142).
NC State, ranked 14th in the country, currently stands in fifth place following the suspended second round of action. The Wolfpack finished the suspended first round this morning, prior to completing the 18-hole second round of competition. Clemson, the nation's top-ranked team gained a 12-shot lead in the second round with a 13-over-par 581.
First round leader East Tennessee State along with Tennessee and VCU did not complete the second round due to the poor weather conditions. Complete second round results will be available following the completion of play on Saturday morning prior to the final 18-hole round.
