Virginia Sweeps NC State Men's Tennis, 7-0

Virginia jumped out to a 1-0 lead by winning all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. The Cavaliers continued their outstanding play by winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
In doubles action, Brian Vahaly and Huntley Montgomery, currently ranked 16th, won at #1 doubles 8-3 over the Wolfpack's Eric Jackson and Keith Salmon. At #2 doubles, the tandem of John Winter and Tommy Croker defeated Brian Cowman and Shaun Thomas 8-3. In the #3 doubles match, Uva's Michael and Brian registered an 8-5 victory over NCSU's Ryan Boward and Devang Desai.
In singles play, the Cavaliers posted straight-set victories in all six matches. Vahaly, ranked fourth in the nation, defeated Jackson 6-4, 6-3. At the #2 spot, No. 49 Montgomery won 6-3, 6-3 over NC State's Devang Desai.
Winter posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Salmon at #3 singles. At #4, Croker notched a 6-4, 6-4 win against Boward, while Hunter won 7-5, 6-2 at #5 singles. Duquette won his match at #6 singles 6-4, 6-3 over Brad Kilgore.
NC State will continue with its ACC road trip tomorrow, as they meet the host Maryland Terrapins. The Pack and Terps will begin play at 11:00 am.
