NC State Maintains Lead at ACC Golf Tournament

Badin Lake, N.C. (April 22, 2000) -- After two rounds of play at the 2000 ACC Men's Golf Championships, NC State still stands atop the leaderboard with a two-under par 574. Georgia Tech, the nation's top-ranked team, is one shot back at 575. Number three Clemson is currently third at 578.
The Wolfpack, ranked 16th in the latest Mastercard poll, shot a two-over par 290 in the second round in cool and windy conditions to maintain the lead heading into the final round.
Carl Pettersson shot a 71 in the second round for a two-day total of three-under 141. He is currently tied for second place, two shots behind Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder.
All five Wolfpack individuals rank in the top 20 for the tournament. Chris Mundorf and Mark Tullo each fired even par rounds for NC State.
Mundorf, a junior co-captain from Greensboro, NC, is currently tied for sixth on the leaderboard. Tullo stands in a tie for eighth place.
Marc Turnesa and David Sanchez are currently tied for 16th with a two-day total of three-over 147.
The tournament, being held at Old North State Golf Club at Badin Lake, will conclude on Sunday with a final 18-hole round. The ACC will crown a team and individual champion following the final round.
The Wolfpack will once again be paired with Georgia Tech and Clemson for Sunday's round and will begin teeing off at 10:30 a.m.
