Redskins Select Harrison In Third Round Of Draft

RALEIGH, NC (April 15) - NC State cornerback Lloyd Harrison was drafted in the third round of the 2000 NFL draft by the Washington Redskins. The two-time first-team All-ACC defender was the 64th pick overall in the draft.

Harrison received the call at his parents' home in Floral Park, N.Y.

"I didn't even know that Washington was picking," he said, "Then the phone rang and some scout from the Redskins said 'Are you ready to be a Redskin?' It was crazy! But good grief, what a great situation to be in! To have a veteran Darrell Green and a young guy like Champ Bailey to work with. I couldn't ask for a better situation. I get to benefit from all the years Darrell Green has been playing, and Champ Bailey has just gone through what it takes to get accustomed to the NFL. And now they've got Levar Arrington too! Wow!

"I just want to say thanks to all the people at NC State, especially all the guys I played with."

Harrison will attend mini-camp with the Redskins on April 27.
