Wolfpack Lead Intercollegiate Golf Tournament

Cary, N.C. (April 14, 2000) -- NC State's mens golf team fought unusual cold conditions for April and leads The Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs after the first two rounds The Wolfpack shot a 297 in the morning round and stood in eight place after the first 18 holes of competition. However, the Pack responded with a five-under par 283 in the afternoon round for a two round total of 580 to grab the lead.
East Tennessee State and North Florida are four strokes back in a tie for second place at 584 while Wake Forest is in fourth place at 585, Minnesota is fifth at 586 and Kansas is sixth at 588.
Chris Wisler of East Tennessee State leads all individuals after firing a seven-under 137 total. N.C. State Carl Pettersson is two shots back in second place at five-under 139 while Tulsas Martin Maritz is third at 141 and Kansas Ryan Vermeer stands in fourth place with a 142 total.
NC States David Sanchez is tied for 12th with a 145 and teammate Marc Turnesa shot a 149 to stand in a tie for 24th.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Saturday at MacGregor Downs Country Club which features a par 72, 6,776-yard layout. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
