The Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs Hosts College/Am

Cary, NC - The Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs hosted a College/Am event on Thursday to open a weekend of golf. Twenty-two teams of five survived cold, rainy and blustery conditions in an 18-hole captain's choice tournament held at MacGregor Downs in Cary.

James McLean of the University of Minnesota led his team to a first-place finish in the gross division with a total of 61. His team members included Dick Ambrose, Mark Norris, Ed Altieri and Doug McLauren.

An impressive 46 was posted by Florida State's Brad Lusenhop's team to capture first-place in the net division. Rounding out his team was Tim Welch, Mike Dela Rosa, Dick Burke and Kazem Yahyapour.

The collegiate tournament kicks off Friday morning with 12 of the best teams in the country playing 36 holes beginning at 8 a.m. The event will conclude on Saturday at MacGregor Downs with an 18-hole round starting at 8 a.m. The tournament is free to the public.
