Collegiate Golf Tournament to be held at MacGregor Downs

Raleigh, NC (April 12, 2000) -- The 11th annual Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs will once again play host to the top collegiate golf teams in the nation on April 14-15 at MacGregor Downs Country Club (par 72, 6,776 yards) in Cary, N.C. The event has established itself as one of the top collegiate tournaments in the country.
Eleven of this year*s 12-team field are ranked in the top 50 in the country in the latest Mastercard rankings. Co-host NC State is the highest ranked team in this year's event at 18th. North Florida (20), Duke (22), Kansas (29), Colorado (31), Minnesota (32), Texas A&M (36), North Carolina (42), Wake Forest (47) and Tulsa (50) are the other ranked teams in this year*s Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs.
The tournament field includes seven players that are ranked in the top 50 in the country in the Mastercard individual rankings. North Carolina's Max Harris is the lone top-10 player in the field, currently ranked eighth in the nation. Other ranked players include Martin Maritz of Tulsa (12), Matt Krauss of Duke (17), Minnesota*s James McLean (40), Carl Pettersson of NC State (44), David Bennett of North Florida (46) and East Tennessee State*s Chris Wisler (47).
All teams will participate in a practice round the morning of Thursday, April 13, followed by a college/amateur event that afternoon. Tournament competition begins with 36 holes on Friday and will conclude on Saturday with an 18-hole round. Tee times start at 8 a.m. both days at MacGregor Downs Country Club. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday.
