Gymnasts Fall To Georgia

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 6, 2000) -- The No. 14 NC State women's gymnasts team was defeated by No. 3 Georgia 196.575-193.450 at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in front of 3,379 people February 6.
While Georgia took home a piece of first in every event, the Pack's Kelli Brown had an impressive day. The sophomore finished in a tie for first on the bars with a score of 9.9, and was fourth on the floor with a mark of 9.85. Both scores set new personal-highs for Brown.
NC State (2-4) also got a strong showing from junior Monica Berry. Berry scored a 9.875 on beam for a second place finish, the Pack's highest beam score of the season. Junior Amy Langendorf took first in the all-around, with a score of 38.452.
NC State's strongest event on the day was the bars. NC State tied Georgia with a score of 49.050. Brown finished in a tie for first, while Langendorf and Kara Charles tied for fourth with a score of 9.825.
NC State will return to action this Friday, when it host the Hearts Invitational at Reynolds Coliseum beginning at 7:00 p.m.
