Gymnastics Takes Third at Governor's Cup

TOWSON, Md. (February 5, 2000) -- Jill Fisher of the University of Maryland earned the first perfect 10.0 in school history as the Terrapins and Towson University teamed up to win the fifth annual Governor's Cup at Towson 390.725-385.275 over NC State and North Carolina.
The Wolfpack finished third in the meet with a score of 193.75. Maryland finished first with a school record 195.95, host Towson was second with a season high 194.775, while North Carolina placed fourth (191.525).
Junior Amy Langendorf won the bar competition with a 9.9, and also led the Wolfpack with a 38.15 all-around score. Senior Maggie Haney scored a personal-best on floor, with a 9.925, and finished third. The mark of 9.925 ties Haney with former NC State gymnasts Elizabeth Bernstein and Christi Newton for the school record on floor. Sophomore Kelli Brown placed second on vault (9.875), and Aimee Panton was third on vault (9.850), both setting personal-highs.
NC State will return to action on Sunday, as the Pack host No. 3 Georgia at the ESA at 5:00 p.m.
