NC State Places Fourth in Mercedes-Benz

Ponte Vedra, FL (Feb. 22)-- NC State's men's golf team completed its first tournament of the spring with a fourth place finish in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Sawgrass C.C. in Ponte Vedra, Fla. The Wolfpack completed the three round event with 887 (287-298-302). The University of Florida won the team title with a seven over par 871.
NC State was led by senior co-captain Carl Petterson who shot a four over par 220 (72-74-74) to finish in a tie for ninth. It marks his third top ten finish this year. Freshman Jason Moon fired a three round total of 222 to finish in a tie at 17th place. North Florida*s David Bennett claimed the individual title with a five-under 211 (67-72-72). He defeated Camilo Benedetti of Florida in a playoff.
