Senior Francie Barragan Earns Player of the Week
2/15/2000 12:00:00 AM | Women's Tennis
Senior Francie Barragan was named the women's tennis player of the
week for 2/7 to 2/13. Barragan was honored because of the intensity she showed
in practice and also her will to keep battling in her No. 1 singles match against
Brooke Hart of Michigan. Barragan showed a lot of heart and determination the
whole match before falling 6-3, 6-1. That was her first time playing at the No. 1
position.
Barragan usually plays at the No.2 position but had to move up because of the absence of Marissa Gildemeister. The coaching staff noted that it is good to know that they can count on Barragan to fill in at the No. 1 position in the future if needed.
