The Wolfpack then spent a leisurely afternoon in the sun at the beach. Some of the players and staff rented surfboards to attempt to catch a wave while others were content to lay in the sun. Afterwards, the entire group enjoyed a catamaran ride in the Pacific that circled Diamond Head, the famous Hawaiian mountain landmark. Just as the captain promised, everyone got soaked as he guided the boat into the waves as the boat rounded Diamond Head and hit the tradewinds.
"That was even more fun that the banana boat ride last year in Cancun," said senior Monica Bates. "I thought it was going to be a nice smooth, relaxing sail," commented Coach Yow. "That was more like white-water rafting!"
The tournament banquet was held Thanksgiving night with another holiday feast for all eight teams in the tournament. Each coach got up to speak and introduce their team. Coach Yow received the only standing ovation of the evening.
Afterwards the players and staff spent time walking around the shops of the International Marketplace across the street from the Sheraton Moana Surfrider where the team is staying. Everyone headed to be early in preparation for Friday's 9 a.m. game against Northern Illinois in the first round of the Wahine Classic.
