NC State Golfers Finish 13th in Carpet Capital Collegiate

Rocky Face, GA (Oct. 8)- NC State's men's golf team moved up two spots in the final round of competition to finish 13th in the highly competitive Carpet Capital Collegiate held at The Farm Golf Club in Rocky Face, Ga. The Wolfpack, ranked 25th in the nation, shot a three-day total of 903 (39-over-par).
Host Georgia Tech won the event with a 54-hole score of six-over 870, to edge Clemson by a single shot. Both teams are ranked in the top five in the national golf polls.
Senior David Sanchez (Charlotte) led NC State by carded a three-day total of one-over-par 217 to finish in a tie for sixth place. Senior Chris Mundorf (Greensboro) scored a four-over 220 and finished in a tie for 16th.
Kyle Thompson of South Carolina won the individual title, firing an eight-under 208 to edge Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder by three shots.
NC State's next event will be Oct. 15-16 at the Duke Golf Classic.
