NC State will go into the 2000 season as the defending EAGL champions, after posting a meet and school record team score of 196.05. Also in 1999, the Wolfpack received its first ever perfect 10's, when Maggie Haney and Monica Berry notched those scores on the balance beam. In 2000, the Pack will count on seniors Haney and Jenny Sommer, along with junior Amy Langendorf who competed at the NCAA Championships last season.
Defending national champion, and 2000 opponent, Georgia was the top pick in the poll receiving 17 of the possible 36 first place votes. The Wolfpack will face a total of nine teams that cracked the Top-25, including conference foes No. 17 West Virginia and No. 18 Maryland.
NC State will open up its 2000 season next Friday, January 14, when the Pack plays host to George Washington in Reynolds Coliseum. The meet is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
