NC State, off to its best start in school history at 11-0, is one of four undefeated teams remaining in the top 25 along with Connecticut, Mississippi State and Tulane. The Wolfpack are 1-0 this year against ranked opponents, the Tar Heels are 0-2 versus ranked foes.
Tonight will be the 65th meeting between these rivals, with NC State holding a 43-21 advantage in the series. The Wolfpack have played UNC more than any other opponent in school history.
NC State is led by senior center Summer Erb who averages 13.5 points and 7.7 rebounds a game for the Wolfpack. Tynesha Lewis contributes 13.2 points per outing while freshman Kaayla Chones adds 12.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
A year ago the Wolfpack swept the series, winning 87-70 in Raleigh and 79-71 in Chapel Hill. In the two games combined, Erb posted 47 points and 27 rebounds and Lewis had 46 points and 22 rebounds. NC State will need big games from those two tonight to improve on its best ever start.
