Women's Tennis Wins Opener, 9-0, Over Appalachian State

NC State swept all six of its singles matches against ASU, led by senior Marissa Gildemeister's 6-1, 6-1 win over ASU's Vanessa Manicom at No. 1. Senior Francie Barragan and freshman Loni Worsley each earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Senior Brie Glover defeated Jennifer Fayad 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, while sophomore Katrina Gildemeister defeated Alex Chong 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5. Freshman Myrna Bawono rounded out the singles match-ups by defeating Donna Altenburger 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles action, the Gildemeister sister's defeated Manicom and Lane 8-4 at No. 1. Glover and Bawono teamed up in the No. 2 slot to beat Eberhart and Chong 8-3, while freshman Landis Strader and Worsley defeated Fayad and Altenburger 8-5 at No. 3.
The Pack returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Chapel Hill for the weekend to participate in the ACC Indoor Chanpionships.
