NC State Upset By Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) (Jan. 13) - Summer Erb led the Wolfpack with 13 points and Kaayla Chones added 11, but NC State suffers its first loss of the season, 71-56.
Clemson's Chrissy Floyd scored 15 points, including three straight baskets in a key first-half run, to lead Clemson to help in the victory.
No. 1 Connecticut (12-0) and No. 13 Tulane (14-0) are the only remaining unbeatens in Division I.
Clemson (10-5, 1-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) opened the second half with a 9-4 run, which put the Tigers up 35-21 with 15:50 left in the game.
North Carolina State (14-1, 5-1) twice closed within single digits, but Joanie Mungro's three-point play and consecutive baskets by Floyd put the Tigers up 50-35.
Datishella Byrd's basket off a behind-the-back pass from Floyd on a fast break put the Tigers up 54-38 with 4:43 left. Two free throws by Erin Batth and another basket by Floyd gave Clemson the biggest lead of the game, 58-40, with three minutes left.
The Wolfpack closed within 58-48 with 1:48 left, but came no closer.
Clemson got 13 points from Nuria Forns, 11 from Angie Cossey and 10 each from Mungro and Krystal Scott.
Floyd scored six straight points in a 17-2 run that put Clemson up 24-7 with 5:16 left in the first half.
North Carolina State committed 10 turnovers in the first half, double the number of giveaways committed by the Tigers.
Clemson led 26-17 at halftime.
