Game Notes vs. Clemson

Tonight's Contest:
NC State will try to improve on its best ever start and match the longest
winning streak in school history. NC State's previous best start was 10-0 which
was accomplished in the 1990-91 season and again in the 1997-98 season when the
Wolfpack advanced to the NCAA Final Four. The 1984-85 Wolfpack squad reeled off
15 consecutive wins late in the season. The Wolfpack are currently one of only
three unbeaten teams in the country, along with Connecticut and Tulane.
These two teams have met 53 times with the Pack holding a 34-19 advantage in the series. Clemson has won the last four meetings between these teams, including a 52-51 thriller last year in the first round of the ACC tourney. The last time NC State won in Littlejohn Coliseum was Feb. 23, 1995.
Scouting Clemson:
The defending ACC Champions enter tonight's contest coming off an upset of #15
North Carolina for its first conference win of the season. With the win, the
Tigers avoided going 0-3 in conference play for the first time since the 1986-87 season.
Freshman Chrissy Floyd is leading Clemson with 12.3 points per contest off the
bench. Junior center Erin Batth is chipping in 10.2 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Floyd and Batth both come off the bench to spark the Tigers. Clemson ranks last in the
ACC in field goal percentage (38.1%) and three-point field goal percentage (22.7%).
The Tigers leads the league in turnover margin (4.4) and blocked shots (4.1).

The Coaches:
Head Coach Kay Yow is entering her silver anniversary season on the Wolfpack bench.
She has a 526-214 record in her 24 years at NC State and a 583-233 overall collegiate
coaching mark. One of the most successful coaches in the country, she currently ranks
fifth in career wins.
Jim Davis is in his season at the helm of the Lady Tiger program and owns a 269-119 record at Clemson.
Last Time Out:
NC State defeated Maryland 71-52 to improve to 14-0 on the
season. Summer Erb led the Wolfpack Women with 19 points and nine rebounds.
Clemson upset #15 North Carolina 60-59 Monday night in Chapel Hill.The Tigers held UNC to 28.3% from the floor. Krystal Scott led Clemson with 16 points and Chrissy Floyd came off the bench to contribute 15 points.
Next Up:
NC State returns to the friendly confines of Reynolds
Coliseum next week to host Virginia on Monday, Jan. 17 and Duke on Thursday,
Jan. 20 in two important ACC matchups.
Clemson travels to Duke on Sunday.
Pack Off to Best Ever Start
With its 71-52 win over Maryland on Jan. 9, the Wolfpack Women improved to 14-0,
the best start in the 26-year history of the NC State women*s basketball programs.
The previous best start was 10-0, which was accomplished twice - during the 1990-91
season and the 1997-98 season. The 1991 was a team capable of winning the national
championship but were upset by UConn in the NCAA tourney. The 1997-98 team advanced
to the NCAA Final Four.
Double-doubles
Only 13 games into the season, three different players have recorded a
total of nine double-doubles for NC State. The following are the double-doubles to date:

Erb Joins 1,000 Point Club
With her first basket of the second half against New Hampshire on Dec. 21, senior
Summer Erb eclipsed the 1,000 point mark in her third season at NC State. She became
the 19th player in the 26-year history of the program to reach the scoring milestone.
Lewis Joins 1,000 Point Party
One game after Summer Erb hit the 1,000 point milestone, teammate Tynesha Lewis
joined the fun. Lewis hit two free throws with just over a minute remaining in the
game to score the 1,000th point of her career. She becomes the 20th player in school
history to reach this milestone.
NCSU Best in ACC in 1,000 Scorers
NC State has more 1,000-point career scorers than any other school in the ACC with 20.
Clemson ranks second with 18, followed by Maryland with 17.
ACC stats
Wolfpack freshman Kaayla Chones is currently tied as the ACC's top rebounder with
9.3 boards per outing. She also ranks 13th in scoring (12.4).
Summer Erb stands at fifth in rebounding (7.6), sixth in blocked shots (0.8), third in free throw percentage (80.0%) and 8th in scoring (13.4).
Tynesha Lewis ranks sixth in scoring (14.1), sixth in field goal percentage (43.5%), third in three-point percentage (43.9%), fifth in three-pointers per game (2.1).
Rookie Terah James is fifth in assists (4.3).
As a team, NC State is first in field goal percentage defense (35.5%) and third in field goal percentage (45.1%). The Wolfpack rank second in scoring margin (16.7) and second in rebound margin (7.1).
