CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Amy Rodeheffer scored the game-winning goal 44
seconds into sudden-death overtime this afternoon to lead the University
of Cincinnati to a 2-1 win over NC State in women's soccer.
The Bearcats improved to 2-0 on the young season, while the Wolfpack, incurring its first loss of the year, dropped to 2-1.
Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead at the 6:16 mark when Jill Firman scored off a corner kick. That lead held through the remainder of the first half, but NC State broke the tie on a penalty kick by Jennifer Marsh at 53:22.
The Wolfpack, despite being outshot 15-6, held on to force overtime, but Cincinnati's Jen Meiners beat the NC State defense deep in front of the net in the first minute of OT. Meiners fed Rodenheffer for the winning goal.
