Play Begins in Wolfpack Invitational

Senior Francie Barragan of Fayetteville, N.C., defeated Davidsons Elizabeth Moreno, 6-4, 6-1, in Flight A Singles, while top-seed Marissa Gildemeister of NC State, a senior from Durham, N.C., received a first-round bye. Gildemeister will face Christine Weber in the second round tomorrow.
In Flight B action, Wolfpack senior Brie Glover earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Audrey Legay of UNC Greensboro. NC State freshman Loni Worsley of Winston-Salem, N.C., had a first-round bye as well. NC State's Myrna Bawano, a freshman from Jakarda, Indonesia, had a straight-sets win over UNCGs Michaela Quinn.
Landis Strader, a freshman from Greensboro, N.C., battled back to win the final two sets to defeat Donna Altenberger of Appalachian State. She will face Katherine Brooks of Davidson in the second round tomorrow.
