NC State Places Ninth in Ridges Intercollegiate

Johnson City, Tenn. -- (Sept. 12) NC State's men's golf team opened the 1999-2000 season with a ninth-place finish in the Ridges Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn. The Wolfpack, ranked #20 in the preseason poll, completed the three-round tourney with a 896 (304-296-296). Oklahoma won the event with a six-over-par 870.
Senior co-captain Carl Pettersson led NC State with three-round total of 222 to finish in a tie for 23rd. Jason Moon, a freshman from Australia competing in his first collegiate event, was one shot back to place in a tie for 25th. Max Harris of North Carolina won the individual title with a five-under par 211 to edge out Patrick Norris of Arizona.
The Wolfpack's next tournament this fall is Oct. 1-3 at the prestigious Carpet Capital Classic hosted by Georgia Tech.
