Wolfpack Golfers Tie for Sixth at The Nelson

STANFORD, CA (October 31) -- NC State's men's golf team ended the fall season with a sixth place finish at The Nelson Invitational hosted by Stanford University. The Wolfpack shot an eight-over-par 860 in the three-round tournament to tie with Arizona for sixth place in the 20-team event. Stanford won the tournament with a five-under 847 on its home course.
Senior co-captain Carl Pettersson fired a one-under-par 212 to lead the Wolfpack with a tie for 13th place. Chris Mundorf, a junior co-captain from Greensboro, carded a 215 to finish in a tie for 20th. Tulsa*s Martin Maritz won the individual title with a three-day total of 203 to edge Jess Daley of Northwestern by one stroke.
NC State will not compete again until the spring season when they head to the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate at Ponte Vedra, Fla. on Feb. 21-22, 2000.
