Krauss, Streelman shoot one-under to vault team six spots in standings
STANFORD, Calif. (October 31) -- Duke gained six spots in the team standings, thanks to two one-under 70s in Sunday's final round of The Nelson Invitational, hosted by Stanford University. The Blue Devils, in 17th place following Saturday's round, turned in a two-over 286 team score on the final 18 holes to finish in 11th place. Duke finished 25 strokes back of team champion Stanford, who finished with a five under 847 for the 54-hole event.Duke sophomores Matt Krauss (Dumfries, Va.) and Kevin Streelman (Wheaton, Ill.) both carded a 70 on Sunday. Streelman posted the sqaud's best finish along with teammate Paul Tucker (Pageland, S.C.), as both finished in 47th place with a seven-over par 220. Krauss finished tied for 58th with a nine-over 222. Other Blue Devil participants included freshman Leif Olson (Golden, Colo.) who tied for 52nd with a 221 and senior Mike Christensen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) who finished in 73rd with a 224 for the tournament.
The Blue Devils compete in one more tournament this fall, as they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. to compete in the Golf World Invitational from Nov. 5-7.
