A new era of NC State men's and women's soccer began in 2008, with the opening of the Dail Soccer Field located in the heart of campus. For the first time in school history, the Wolfpack soccer teams are able to play night games, as the soccer stadium is located inside NC State's track under stadium lights. One of the top features is the new scoreboard, equipped with full-Matrix capabilities. In 2009, the men's soccer team hosted an NCAA second round game at the Dail Soccer Field.
During the summer of 2011, Dail Soccer Field received even more updates. Seat-back chairs and bleachers have significantly upgraded the seating comfort for NC State fans, which includes bleachers behind both goals. A new brick look also encompasses a majority of the upgrades that have been made to the stadium, while a press box, new fan entrance and a brand-new stand alone building in the southeast corner of the stadium provides both the Pack and its competitors meeting and locker room space and showers.
Paul H. Derr Track
Paul Derr Track is located in the heart of NC State’s main campus.
As part of on-going facility enhancements across campus, the longstanding home of Wolfpack track was fitted in the offseason with new chairback seats, a new press box, a new operations/storage building, enhanced concourses, new bathrooms and an elegant brick facade in 2012. It is also part of the Dail Soccer Stadium, home of NC State’s men’s and women’s soccer teams. The new improvements come on the heels of a $5 million upgrade in 2008 that included a state-of-the-art rubberized running surface.
The original Paul Derr Track Facility has served the Raleigh community, the athletics department and the university since the school built its first cinder track on the current site in 1938. The complex was named in honor of the late Derr, a longtime NC State track coach and head of the physical education department.
Derr Track has hosted numerous championship events over the years, including ACC Championships, North Carolina high school championship meets, Junior Strider meets, the Special Olympics and many other events.
Derr Track served as a training site for several international teams prior to the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Australia, New Zealand and Norway all brought their athletes to Raleigh to prepare for the Summer Games.
In addition to serving as the staging area for Olympic teams, Derr Track has become the site of some of the nation’s and region’s biggest meets:

The Raleigh Relays, which is one of the largest outdoor meets on the East Coast, playing host to approximately 2,000 collegiate competitors annually.

The ACC Championships have been held at the site eight times, most recently in 2003.

The NCAA Division II National Championships.

National Scholastic Championships, in which the nation’s top track and field prepsters competed in Raleigh from 1994-2004
The hours are as follows:
Monday-Friday
- 6 am to 8 am -The track is reserved for the NCSU ROTC groups and NC State athletics teams use only
- 8 am to 2 pm-The track is open to PE classes,students and faculty
- 2 pm to 8 pm-The track is reserved for NC State athletics use only
- At 8 pm the track and areas surrounding are closed for the night for security/liability purposes
Weekends
- At this point all the facilities in that area are closed on Saturdays and Sundays,except for athletics practices and/or games
- At no time is the NC State Soccer Field available for use other than NC State Athletics.
