Wolfpack schedule features nine NCAA Tournament teams from 2016

RALEIGH – Featuring 11 home matches, nine contests against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago, and a match against a local rival at WakeMed Soccer Park, the 2017 NC State men's soccer season schedule was released Tuesday by new head coach George Kiefer and his staff.
In Atlantic Coast Conference play, NC State will host Clemson (Friday, Sept. 8), Wake Forest (Saturday, Sept. 23), Virginia (Friday, Oct. 13), and Boston College (Friday, Oct. 27) at Dail Soccer Field. The Wolfpack will take on local rival UNC-Chapel Hill at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday, Sept. 29. WakeMed Soccer Park is the home of North Carolina FC of the NASL and the NC Courage of the NWSL.

The first opportunity for Wolfpack fans to see the new coaching staff, its 10th-ranked signing class, and returning core of veterans will be the exhibition opener against Appalachian State on Sunday, Aug. 13. Following a trip to UConn to conclude the exhibition portion of the schedule on Aug. 19, the Wolfpack will open with four of its first five regular-season matches at home. NC State officially begins the season in Raleigh against Florida Atlantic University on Friday, Aug. 25, and will host LIU Brooklyn (Sept. 1), Clemson (Sept. 8), and Longwood (Sept. 12) with an Aug. 28 trip to William & Mary serving as the only road match before the middle of September.
Outside of league play, NC State visits Elon (Sept. 19) and hosts UNC Asheville (Sept. 26), UNCW (Oct. 17), and South Carolina (Oct. 24). Four of the Wolfpack's final five matches of the regular season will be played in Raleigh before the ACC Tournament begins in early November.
