
NC State to Open Postseason at ACC Outdoor Championships

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State track and field team will begin its 2016 postseason Friday in Tallahassee, Fla., at the ACC Outdoor Championships. The competition features 14 men's teams and 15 women's teams and will run Friday-Sunday. WatchESPN will broadcast portions of the meet each day.

Wolfpack Qualifiers:
NC State earned 47 qualifying standards for the competition during the regular season. The team will also have wildcard entries and entries in the 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay and decathlon, which do not have qualifications standards. In total, 46 athletes are traveling to Tallahassee for the conference championships.

Tom Block returns to handle play-by-play for the second straight year. Lauryn Williams, a former Miami sprinter and a medalist at the 2004 Athens Olympics, will reprise her role as analyst following a successful debut at February's Indoor Championships in Boston. ESPN3 will bring live action Friday and Saturday (May 13 and 14) from 6 until 9:30 p.m., followed by Sunday's finals from 6 until 9 p.m.

ACC Championships, Tallahassee, Fla., Friday, May 13th – Sunday, May 15th
NC State opens the postseason with the ACC Championships. Along with competing for an ACC title, individuals will have a final chance to earn a spot in the top-48 East standings in their respective events. The top-eight in each event will score points for the team. The top-three individuals in each event will earn First-Team All-ACC Honors, while fourth-sixth place will earn Second-Team All-ACC honors.

NCAA East Preliminary, Jacksonville, Fla., Thursday, May 26th – Saturday, May 28th
After ACC competition concludes, the team will shift its focus to the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. The top-48 athletes in individual events and the top-24 relays teams will compete head-to-head to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The top-12 in each individual event and relay will advance to the NCAA Championships.

NCAA Championships, Eugene, Ore., Wednesday, June 8th – Saturday, June 11th
At the NCAA Championships, athletes will compete head-to-head with qualifiers from the East and West Preliminaries to determine national champions. The top-eight in each event will score points for their team and earn First-Team All-America honors, while athletes who finish in 9th-16th place will earn Second-Team All-America honors.

USATF Olympic Trials, Eugene, Ore., Friday, July 1st – Sunday, July 10th
After the NCAA season concludes, athletes will have a few more opportunities to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Four athletes already hold automatic qualification to the trials, while several more are near to the mark. USATF Olympic Trials Standards can be found here.Â
