RALEIGH -Â The NC State men's basketball team rolled past Cal State Los Angeles to a 71-54 exhibition win on Sunday at PNC Arena. The Pack had a balanced attack with eight scorers, led by Anthony 'Cat' Barber with 21 points and six assists. The team's defense was also dominant, limiting the Golden Eagles to just 20-for-62 (32.3 percent) shooting from the floor.
Abdul-Malik Abu was one rebound short of a double-double, finishing the contest with 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks.Â
After trading baskets on each team's opening possession, the Pack held Cal State LA scoreless for almost four minutes, as it rattled off 13 straight points. Abu and Caleb Martin combined for all 13 points.
Â
The Golden Eagles cut the lead to six with 5:57 remaining in the half, but got no closer as NC State entered halftime leading 39-30.

Â
Turning Point:
Cal State LA cut the led to seven at the 19:00 mark in the second half, but NC State held the Golden Eagles scoreless until the 12:02 mark, extending its lead to 54-32. NC State continued its balanced attack as five Wolfpack players scored during the 15-0 run.
Gott Said It:
"I think it's interesting that Malik had 17 points and nine rebounds. I would say he could really play a lot better. He's such an athletic and aggressive guy, I think he could put pressure on a defense so many times. Plus he's a good foul shooter so if he can get to the line, he may have some nights this year where he could shoot 12 to 15 free throws. He was good today. Overall I thought the team is good. We got to play everybody. We got the jitters a little bit, but they settled down and it ended up being a pretty good day for us."
Debuts:
Maverick Rowan and Terry Henderson both played 25 minutes in their debuts. Rowan tallied eight points on a pair of 3-pointers and a pair of foul shots, while Henderson chipped in five points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Another freshman, Shaun Kirk, scored three points in 12 minutes of action.
