Wolfpack Falls to Tar Heels in Home Finale

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State closed out its regular season by dropping its home finale to No. 11 UNC-Chapel Hill, 45-34, Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium. The Wolfpack now awaits its bowl destination, which will be announced next weekend.
For the second straight year against the Tar Heels, QB Jacoby Brissett ran for over 100 yards - rushing for a team-best 128 yards on 20 carries today, along with a pair of 4-yard TD scores. Brissett also threw two TD passes, finding tight end David J. Grinnage for two scores.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 1st Half
7 plays, 87-yard TD drive in first quarter
After falling behind 14-0, NC State got its first score on its second possession of the game. The Pack got on the scoreboard with a 7-play, 87-yard drive in 3:25. Jacoby Brissett's 4-yard TD run on 3rd down was set up by a Brissett-to-Jaylen Samuels 64 yard pass and catch.
WOLFPACK SPOTLIGHT DRIVE - 2nd Half
9 plays, 97-yard TD drive in second quarter
The Pack's TD drive in the third quarter covered 97 yards in nine plays in 4:12. After a 33-yard Johnathan Alston end-around netted 33 yards, the Pack worked the ball into the red zone and scored on Jacoby Brissett's second four-yard TD run of the game.

NOTABLES
• NC State posted over 500 yards of total offense for the second straight week, 511 vs. Syracuse and 514 today against UNC. The Pack went over 500 yards in back-to-back games for the first time since early in the 2012 season vs. The Citadel and Miami.
• Over the last two games versus UNC Chapel Hill, NC State has averaged 348.0 yards rushing. Last year, the Pack posted a season-best 388 yards while today the Pack posted 308 yards (2nd-best mark this season).
• QB Jacoby Brissett rushed for over 100 yards in both of his career games against the Tar Heels - 167 last year and 128 today.
• NC State's 97-yard TD drive in the third quarter was a season-long drive, the third drive over 90 yards this season. The 97-yard drive is the longest for the Pack since a 99-yard drive in last year's season opener against Georgia Southern.
• QB Jacoby Brissett rushed for two four-yard scores, the first time he had two rushing scores at NC State.
• Two NC State tight ends also posted new career-bests. Jaylen Samuels finished with a career-high 97 receiving yards, while David J. Grinnage caught a career-best two touchdowns.
• UNC was the third team to score a TD on its opening drive against the Pack defense this season.
