Dr. Michelle Joshua is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Sport Psychology Consultant specializing in individual psychotherapy and sport performance consulting. She is currently listed in the US Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology Registry. Dr. Joshua's training with clinical issues, background in performance excellence, and understanding of sport and exercise experiences are a unique combination of assets. She is a former Division I athlete, captain, and scholar-athlete who understands the pressures and joys associated with high-level athletic participation.
She provides individual and team sessions for student-athletes and coaches at NCSU. Her aim is to help student-athletes maximize their performance, in sport and life. Services are provided in a variety of formats, including in-office visits, walk-talk sessions, and on-site consultations with teams. Her approach is strengths-based, positive, and holistic. She most often uses cognitive behavioral techniques to promote learning within a brief model.
Dr. Joshua comes to NCSU with a diverse background of experiences that make her well suited to work with student-athletes. She began her career working in university counseling centers and then went on to create a successful private practice focused exclusively on sport, exercise, and health issues. She is routinely asked to present at national conferences and has been featured in articles about sport psychology in both professional journals and popular magazines.
