EDUCATION:
Earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Arkansas Tech in 2004. Graduated magna cum laude and served as student body president.
PERSONAL:
Born in Norman, Oklahoma on April 12, 1983. He and his wife, the former Lindsey Sivils of Alma, Ark., have three daughters: Addison, Emerson and Ella.
BOWL EXPERIENCE
As a coach - NC State: 2017 Hyundai Sun Bowl; 2016 Camping World Independence Bowl; Boise State: 2014 Fiesta Bowl, 2015 Poinsettia Bowl;
Arkansas State: 2012 GoDaddy.com Bowl, 2013 GoDaddy Bowl; Auburn: 2010 BCS Championship Game, 2011 Chick Fil A Bowl.
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS:
At NC State:
- NC State finished the 2017 season ranked fourth in the ACC in both scoring offense (32.2 ppg) and total offense (451.8 ypg). The Pack was also third in the ACC in passing yards per game (275.4).
- QB Ryan Finley was a 2017 third-team All-ACC selection, the first Pack QB honored since 2010 - he has been named a 2018 Player to Watch by the Columbus Touchdown Club..
- Finley rank third in the ACC with 270.6 passing yards per game, while his .651 completition percentage ranked second in the league and third-best in NC State school history for a single season.
- The NC State offense had seven players earn All-ACC honors in 2017 and three players taken in the 2018 NFL Draft.
- NC State has produced back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers for the first time since 1977-78. In 2016, RB Matthew Dayes was the first at NC State since 2002 and in 2017 first-year starter Nyheim Hines also reached that mark.
- In his first season, the 2016 offense posted single-season numbers that rank in the top 10 in school history in nine different categories.
At Boise State:
- Offense ranked in the Top 15 nationally in points per game and total offense in 2015. The Broncos averaged 39.1 points and over 500 yards of offense per game this past season.
- In 2015, directed quarterback Brett Rypien to Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors, after he led the league in passing yards, total offense and completions.
- In 2014, Boise State’s offense ranked ninth nationally in scoring during a 12-2 campaign that included a Mountain West title and Fiesta Bowl victory over Arizona.
At Arkansas State
- Worked under head coach Gus Malzahn in 2012 and Brian Harsin in 2013.
- Arkansas State ranked 23rd nationally in rushing offense in 2012, averaging 206.2 yards per game.
- The Red Wolves had seven games with more than 200 rushing yards, and led the Sun Belt with 31 rushing touchdowns.
At Auburn
- The Tigers went 14-0 in 2010, winning the Southeastern Conference Championship and, ultimately, the national title.
