Scott Ensell, MS, ATC, LAT
Ensell joined the NCSU Sports Medicine Staff in October 2017 and serves as the primary Athletic Trainer for the Baseball program. Ensell joins the Wolfpack following seven years with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, serving as a Minor League Athletic Trainer, most recently with the 2017 Pacific Coast League (AAA) Champion Memphis Redbirds.
Originally from Steubenville, Ohio, Ensell completed his undergraduate degree from Wilmington College (OH) in 2008, culminating his education with an internship with the Cincinnati Reds. He then moved on to University of Memphis, serving as an Athletic Trainer with Football and Baseball while completing his Master’s Degree in Sports Management.
Ensell then continued his career in baseball by serving as Athletic Trainer for the 2010 Cape Cod Baseball League Champion Cotuit Kettleers before joining the Cardinals in October 2010. He then spent time with Cardinals affiliates, Johnson City Cardinals (Rookie), Quad Cities River Bandits (A), Springfield Cardinals (AA) and Memphis Redbirds (AAA).
Ensell is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As a member of the NSCA, Ensell has pursued certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. As a part of his continuing education, Ensell has also completed coursework in Certified Integrated Dry Needling. In addition, he also serves on the NC State Staff Athletics Council.
Ensell is an avid reader, wannabe baker, and a bad golfer. He resides in Raleigh with his wife, Emily, his son, James Earl, and their family dog, Sirius Black.
