
Six Wrestlers Earn NWCA Scholar All-American Honors

MANHEIM, Pa. – Six NC State wrestlers have been named Scholar All-American honorees by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their demonstration of excellence in both academics and athletics. Koy Buesgens, Derek Fields, Dylan Fishback, Kai Orine, Isaac Trumble, and Brad Yokum are among the group of 333 scholar-athletes across the nation to be listed, as announced by the NWCA Wednesday morning.
NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer expressed, "The NWCA is proud to recognize these outstanding individuals who embody excellence in both athletics and academics."
Buesgens, Fields, and Yokum each earn first-time honors while Fishback, Orine, and Trumble are multi-time Scholar All-Americans. Fishback is now a two-time honoree (2024 & 2025), Trumble is a three-time honoree (2021, 2022, 2025), and Orine leads the way with four-time honors (2022, 2023, 2024, 2025).

Koy Buesgens (Sophomore) - Computer Science
Derek Fields (Senior) - Sport Management
Dylan Fishback (Junior) - Business Administration & Psychology
Kai Orine (Graduate Student) - Masters of Liberal Arts
Isaac Trumble (Graduate Student) - Sport Management
Brad Yokum (Freshman) - First-Year Engineering
All nominees are determined by the academic records returned and the results in TrackWrestling. Student-athletes must meet one of the following criteria to earn the honor:
|| Top 8 and 3.00 GPA
|| National Qualifier and 3.2 GPA
|| Conference Qualifier and 3.5 GPA
|| 15 matches with 60% win record and 3.5 GPA
