CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - NC State women's tennis will compete at the ITA Sectional Championships in Chapel Hill this weekend, running Thursday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 9. The four sectional championships across the country, along with the ITA Conference Masters Championships, will determine the final 28 singles qualifiers and 15 doubles teams for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships later this month.
The Pack will compete at host UNC Chapel Hill as part of the East Section, which is composed of players from the Atlantic, Carolina, New England, and Northeast regions.
The ITA Sectional Championships will be the last chance for some of the top players from across the country to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships.
The ITA Sectional Championships serve as the final opportunity for some of the nation's top players to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships. The East Section will feature a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. Six singles players from each section (24 total) will advance to the NCAA Singles Championship, the four semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners. Meanwhile, three doubles teams from each section (12 total) will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship, the champion, finalist, and third-place duo.
NC State will have four players competing in the singles main draw. Top-seeded and No. 88 Lavinia Tanasie opens play against Victoria Zhao (Cornell), while fourth-seeded and No. 112 Victoria Osuigwe faces Oliwia Orlinska (Maryland). Third seed and No. 74 Gabriella Broadfoot takes on No. 108 Gayathri Krishnan (Columbia), and seventh seed and No. 72 Mia Slama will meet Sage Loudon (Cornell).
The Wolfpack will also field two doubles teams vying for NCAA qualifying spots. No. 73-ranked Tanasie and Slama open against Chloe Lomans and Madison McLeod (UConn), while second-seeded and No. 25-ranked Zyryanova and Conway will face Princeton's Madeleine Jessup and Anna Maria Fedotova.
Heading into the final weekend of qualifying, NC State already has one singles player, Zyryanova, and one doubles team, Broadfoot and Osuigwe, secured for the 2025 NCAA Individual Championships.
