Hollywood Smothers Takes Home ACC Running Back of the Week Honor

RALEIGH, N.C. – One of the nation's top running backs continues his big season as Hollywood Smothers has been named ACC running back of the week, the league announced Monday.

Smothers, who is the top rusher in the conference and is second in the nation in rushing, racked up 123 yards on the ground on just four carries, averaging 30.8 yards per run, including a 59-yard touchdown run which was the longest of his career.

Not only is Smothers reliable in the run game, but he also caught two passes totaling 30 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Fighting Camels.

The Charlotte, N.C. native is just one of four players in all of FBS football to have four 100-yard rushing games on the ground. This season, Smothers has a team-high 19 explosive plays, including two touchdowns.

Smothers becomes the second player to take home ACC honors this season as he joins Isaiah Shirley, who took home ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week Honors.
