RALEIGH, N.C. – Right-handed pitcher Charli Orsini is set to join the NC State softball program for the 2026 campaign, as announced by head coach Lindsay Leftwich Wednesday afternoon.
Leftiwch said, "Charli embodies everything we value in our program. She's a relentless worker who takes pride in preparation, and that's exactly what makes her such a great fit for the Pack. Charli brings experience, composure, and a fierce competitiveness to the circle that will make an immediate impact on our pitching staff."
Orsini, who is originally from Australia, spent the last three seasons at Tennessee. She holds a career earned run average of 2.70 over 24.1 innings pitched.
Prior to coming to the states, the New South Wales native made only one trip to the United States. In 2019, she visited Minnesota with the Aussie Diamonds for the Peppers Carnival where she pitched 14 innings and struck out 19 to finish with a perfect 0.00 ERA.
In high school, Orsini was ranked the No. 21 pitcher and No. 57 overall prospect in the class of 2022 by Extra Inning Softball. She was also selected as a member of the Australian Junior Aussie Spirit Team that was scheduled to compete at the 2020 U18 Softball World Championships in Peru before its postponement due to COVID-19.
"What stands out most is her mindset. Charli is driven to master her craft, eager to learn, and already preparing for a future with the Australian National Team ahead of the 2028 Games. That level of focus and commitment mirrors what we're building here at NC State. She's someone who wants the ball in big moments, who leads by example, and who will help us continue stacking our foundation brick by brick. We can't wait to have her on campus in January and see her make her mark" said Leftwich.
