McCall Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

PHILADELPHIA, PA – NC State quarterback Grayson McCall has been named to the 2024 Maxwell Award Watch List. Today, the Maxwell Football Club announced its watch list for the 88th Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
McCall is one of 80 college football players to be named on the list and is the fifth NC State player to be named, joining Jacoby Brissett (2014), Ryan Finley (2018), Zonovan Knight (2021), and Devin Leary (2022).
The Indian Trail, N.C. native is in his first season with the Wolfpack after transferring from Coastal Carolina. In 42 games for the Chanticleers, McCall threw for over 10,000 yards with 88 touchdown passes and just 14 interceptions.
Last season, he was named a 2023 College Football News (CFN) All-American honorable mention, and he was a HERO Sports' Group of Five All-American second-team performer.
This will be the second straight year McCall has been recognized to the Maxwell award preseason watch list.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced on November 12, 2024, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled on November 26, 2024. The winners of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 12, 2024. The formal presentations of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday, March 14, 2024, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Maxwell Award is a National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) member, encompassing college football's most prestigious awards. The NCFAA's 25 awards have honored more than 900 recipients since 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
