Raleigh, NC - NC State Athletics, in conjunction with St. Louis based sports production company, Ryval Studios, won a silver national Addy for video editing for their 2023 football season intro video at the 2023 American Advertising Federation's American Advertising Awards national competition. The award was received this past weekend at the national American Advertising Awards Show in Salt Lake City, UT.
The video titled Wolf Attack previously won five gold Addys at the local St. Louis competition level and 4 gold Addys at the District 9 level competition in the categories of Branded Content & Entertainment – Non-Broadcast, Video Editing, and Branded Content & Entertainment for Online/Interactive, which also won the coveted Best of Show for this category. The district gold award entries were then eligible for judging for the national competition.Â
"It's incredibly humbling to see Ryval win a national award at such a prestigious awards show, competing against the best creative work in the country" says Jon Morgan, Founder and Executive Producer at Ryval "to think of where Ryval started and where we are now as a company, it's a true testament to God's blessing, the great clients we are able to collaborate with and the top creative talent we are able to bring in on every project."
Ryval Studios brought on editor Nick Rua as the main editor for Wolf Attack. Ryval has been working with Rua for several years as one of their main editors for their sports clientele. This was the first time either Ryval or Rua has won a National Addy Award.
"I'm extremely grateful that I was brought onto a team where everybody aligned on the same vision. It's not every day you get to collaborate with creative people on something that allows every player to execute at their highest level, and have fun at the same time" said Rua.Â
NC State began working with Ryval Studios last summer after they won a public RFP for a multi-year relationship to produce the intro videos for football and basketball. NC State decided to begin working with an outside production company to produce these videos because of the need to take their in-game creative content to the next level.Â
"We were excited to learn that NC State's football intro video earned national recognition," said Stephanie Menio, Deputy Athletics Director at NC State. "This is a direct result of a great collaborative experience and Ryval's creative vision and implementation. Ryval has been a great partner and we look forward to continuing to set the standard with our gameday experience."
Over the last 3 years, Ryval has become a go-to production company for collegiate and professional sports teams for outsourced production needs. In addition to their work for NC State, Ryval has also worked with teams including the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Rays, Carolina Hurricanes, Duke University, University of Illinois and others. Ryval has also become a preferred sports production company for sports entities including Madison Square Garden, ESPN and others.
Ryval will also be submitting Wolf Attack into the Nashville/Mid-South Regional Emmy Awards in this year's upcoming competition. Ryval is looking forward to submitting more work for NC State in the American Advertising Awards competition next year. They most recently completed production on NC State football's intro video for the 2024 season and is very excited to submit it in next year's Addy and Emmy competitions.
