Wolfpack Men’s and Women’s Basketball Squads to Be Honored at Belltower Celebration

Raleigh, NC - NC State and the City of Raleigh will honor the Wolfpack men's and women's basketball teams for their historic runs in the ACC and NCAA Tournaments on Monday, April 15 at 8 p.m. at the Memorial Belltower. Men's head coach Kevin Keatts, women's head coach Wes Moore and members of both teams will be on hand for this fun celebration.
Hillsborough Street at Oberlin Road and Horne Street will be closed by the City of Raleigh for the free event, beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday Parking will be available after 5 p.m. in the Reynolds Coliseum Parking Deck, the Jeter Bays adjacent to Reynolds Coliseum, the SAS Lot and the Dan Allen Deck.
The women's basketball team reached the NCAA Final Four for the first time since 1998 and just the second time in program history. After hosting the first two rounds of NCAA Championships action in Raleigh, the Wolfpack defeated No. 2 seed Stanford and No. 1 seed Texas to be crowned the regional champion in Portland, Ore. NC State finished with a final national ranking of No. 4 after being ranked in the AP Top 10 for the majority of the season. The Pack finished the year with a 31-7 overall record, earned nine wins over AP Top 25 teams to tie a single-season program record and was the runner up at the ACC Tournament.
The men's squad brought home its first ACC title since 1987 by winning five games in five days, notching victories over Louisville, Syracuse, Duke, Virginia, and UNC to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 11th-seeded Wolfpack knocked off Texas Tech and Oakland in the first and second rounds in Pittsburgh, then sent Marquette and Duke packing to win the South Regional and advance to the Final Four for the first time since 1983.
The Wolfpack finished the historic run with a No 10 ranking in the final AP poll, its highest ranking since the Nov. 12, 2012 AP poll when the Pack was ranked sixth.
