William Manning Wins USTA National Gold Ball At 56th Annual Easter Bowl

NC State men's tennis freshman William Manning wrote his name in the history books this weekend after winning the singles title at the 56th annual Easter Bowl tournament Sat Mar. 30. Manning brought home more hardware for the Wolfpack this weekend after a successful week of competition at his very first USTA National Gold Ball tournament.
The Easter Bowl is an official USTA National Championship consisting of a draw of 64 singles and 32 doubles. The week-long tournament began Mar. 23 and ran through Mar. 30 at Indian Wells Tennis Garden, located in Indian Wells, CA. William started competition Monday where he surpassed his competitors on the court in all five of his matches, winning straight sets in all matches.
Going up against a collection of talent from over fourty different states across the country, Manning proudly represented the Wolfpack making it all the way to "The Super Bowl of juniors tennis".
William competed in the final bright and early Saturday morning defeating his opponent in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. "I'm excited to win my first tournament as part of the Wolfpack!" said Manning in a statement.
Manning, who is a Raleigh native, joined the Pack back in January. Manning was the No.1 ranked USTA singles player, as well as being in the top-10 in USTA doubles rankings back in 2023. Manning competed in the Easter Bowl back In 2022, he was a finalist in 16s, as well as a silver ball medalist.
