RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State baseball program opens the 2024 MLB Season with four #PackPros on Opening Day rosters. Trea Turner (Phillies), Carlos Rodon (Yankees), Patrick Bailey (Giants) and Andrew Knizner (Rangers) will represent the Wolfpack in the big leagues as the 2024 MLB season gets started on Thursday.
Turner, who was named USA Baseball's 2023 Richard W. "Dick" Case Award winner in December, finished his first regular season in Philadelphia batting .266 with 26 homers, 76 RBI and 30 stolen bases. He batted .347 with three homers, five RBI and four stolen bases in the postseason, helping lead the Phillies to the National League Championship Series.
Patrick Bailey enters his first full season with the Giants after making his MLB debut on May 19. Bailey was named a 2023 National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award Finalist in October after his rookie campaign behind the plate, leading all MLB catchers in strike rate and catcher framing runs. He played in 97 total games for the Giants during his rookie season, batting .233 with 18 doubles, seven home runs, 48 RBI and a triple.
Rodon enters his second season with the Yankees after making 14 starts in 2023. Rodon finished with 64 strikeouts in 64.1 innings pitched. Knizner begins his sixth MLB season and his first with the Texas Rangers after signing a one-year contract with the defending World Series Champions.
