
Trio Earns Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The NC State volleyball team had a trio of student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors by College Sport Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA), as announced by the organization Monday afternoon.
Ava Brizard, Courtney Bryant and Sophie Groom become the first members of the Wolfpack to earn the honor since 2016.
The award recognizes student-athletes for their performance in the classroom in addition to on the court. To qualify, one must have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 and be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically.
Brizard, a junior outside hitter, appeared in all 29 matches for the Wolfpack, making 26 starts. She averaged 2.69 kills per set and 2.91 points per set. She finished the year with 71 digs and 32 blocks.
Bryant appeared in all 29 matches and made 27 starts. The junior outside hitter concluded the season averaging 2.47 kills per set in addition to 2.28 digs per set. She also tallied 25 service aces on the season.
Groom finished her first season with the Wolfpack by starting 25 matches before being sidelined with injury. She averaged 1.35 kills per set and finished the season with a .341 hitting efficiency. The junior middle blocker helped lead the Wolfpack's defensive efforts and averaged 1.05 blocks per set.
