NC State to observe Student Athlete Mental Health Awareness Week

RALEIGH, NC – NC State athletics will sponsor Student Athlete Mental Health Awareness Week with a variety of recognitions and initiatives during events from September 30 - October 7. These events have been initiated and led by the leaders of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in collaboration with Wolfpack Athletics' Mental Health and Performance Psychology Department, Student-Athlete Engagement and Leadership.
The purpose of the week-long initiative is to bring attention to and raise awareness for the unique mental health struggles that students on campuses face. This worthy cause will be promoted at home games - men's and women's soccer, volleyball, and football.
EVENTS FOR THE WEEK
- Student-Athletes will be wearing green shirts and handing out ribbons, wristbands and other items
- Public announcement regarding mental health theme
- Volleyball game vs. Louisville - Warm up shirts with "More Than __" Green Tuffy and BS patch. Video at a set break highlighting players discussing mental health
- Tabling with Mental Health Information and Resources
- Public announcement regarding mental health theme
- Helmet decals, wristbands, etc. from Hilinksi's Hope
- Table with Mental Health Information and Resources
