
Wolfpack Cruises to 45-7 Victory Over VMI

RALEIGH, N.C. – From start to finish, the Wolfpack was in control as they defeated VMI 45-7 Saturday afternoon from Carter Finley-Stadium.
In all three phases, NC State saw big games as Brennan Armstrong finished 27-32 for 264 yards and a touchdown. Armstrong's 84 percent completion percentage is the most by an NC State QB since 2015 when Jacoby Brissett also had an 84 percent completion percentage against Troy.
The ground game was once again working for the Wolfpack as nine rushers accumulated 234 yards, led by freshman Kendrick Raphael with 85, and he was followed by Delbert Mimms, who found the end zone twice and ran for 35 yards.
Wide receiver Julian Gray had a career day as his 64-yard catch and run was a career-best in a Wolfpack uniform, and he finished with 80 receiving yards., Gray went on to add an 82-yard kickoff return for 181 all-purpose yards. Bradley Rozner added his second touchdown of the season with a 16-yard reception after a nice catch in the corner of the end zone.
For the third straight game, linebacker Payton Wilson led the Wolfpack in tackles with nine, while Robert Kennedy had an interception in which he returned 30 yards for the second touchdown of the afternoon.
The Wolfpack defense had another stout performance, holding the Keydets to 191 total yards and only seven points.
