RALEIGH, NC – A semifinalist in 2020 while playing for Western Kentucky, kicker Brayden Narveson is now representing the Wolfpack on the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award Watchlist, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced today.
A graduate transfer who joined the Wolfpack after playing the past three seasons at Western Kentucky, Narveson earned All-Conference USA second-team honors and third-team honors from PFF. A two-time Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week, he turned in one of the best seasons by a kicker in WKU history in 2021 while helping the Hilltoppers win a Conference USA East Division Championship.
He is one of only five active FBS kickers with more than 50 career field goals, with 21 coming from at least 40 yards out, the third-highest total in the nation. He did not miss a PAT in his three years at Western Kentucky, going 158-for-158.
Narveson comes to NC State to fill the shoes of last year's Groza winner and all-time leading ACC scorer Christopher Dunn. Marc Primanti (1996) and Dunn (2022) have taken home the award, with Steven Hauschka and Niklas Sade both being named semifinalists during their Wolfpack careers.
The Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award will announce its 20 semifinalists on Thursday, November 9th. From this list, a panel of more than 100 FBS head coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza finalists, and current NFL kickers selects the top three finalists for the award, announced on Tuesday, November 28 th. The national winner will be announced during the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN in December.
