Matty Singleton headed to World Championships

RALEIGH, NC – NC State's Matty Singleton will represent the United States at the 2023 World Championships in Warsaw, Poland.
The event runs August 14-20.
"Matty has had a great summer training," NC State head coach Pat Popolizio said. "The last several weeks he's been very focused. He's gotten to spend some time out at the Olympic training center which has helped him improve tremendously. Our coaching staff has done a phenomenal job getting him prepared for worlds."
Singleton earned a spot in the 79 kg division at the U20 World Team Trials in June. This is the second Singleton won the World Team Trials after winning it all in 2021.
In the finals of the World Team Trials, Singleton defeated Gabriel Arnold (Sebolt Wrestling Academy) 2-1 in the best-of-three series. In the first match, Singleton came away with a 6-1 win. After Arnold won the second match, Singleton won the tiebreaker, 5-4.
Singleton finished his freshman season for the Wolfpack with an overall record of 8-5, including a 1-1 mark in ACC action.
