Dylan Fishback earns Bronze Medal at Poland Open

Mike Macchiavello, Nick Gwiazdowski also earn medals at event
NC State's Dylan Fishback ended his time at the Ziolkowski Memorial & Poland Open with his hand raised, earning a Bronze medal in the 86 kg division.

Fishback, a rising sophomore from Aurora, Ohio, went 3-1 as part of Team USA in men's freestyle.

Fishback started the day with an 11-0 win over Domantas Pauliuscenko of Lithuania, followed by a 7-6 over Poland's Cezary Sadwoski.

In the semifinal round, Fishback dropped a match to Poland's Sebastian Jezierzanski, 5-1. Fishback ended his weekend with an 8-0 victory over Stefan Reichmuth. In June Fishback won the 86 kg gold medal at the U23 Nationals.Â

Former NC State national champion Mike Macchiavello also came home with some hardware, earning a bronze in the 92 kg division. Macchiavello defeated Nick Stemmet (USA) 10-0 in the first match before falling to No. 7 Osman Nurmagomedov, 2-8 in the next round.Â

Macchiavello closed out the event with back-to-back wins over Rogut Filip (Poland) 10-0 and Dod Nazar (Ukraine), 11-0.

Another former national champion for the Pack, Nick Gwiazdowski, won the gold medal in the 125 kg class. Gwiazdowski went 3-0, defeating Islam Adizov (8-0), Robert Baran (6-1) and No. 5 Giorgi Meshvildishvili (9-2).
