Shimko Named to Patrick Mannelly Award Watch List

RALEIGH, NC – NC State long snapper Joe Shimko has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2023 Patrick Mannelly Long Snapper Award. Shimko, a semifinalist for the award in 2022, was also named to the watch list last season.
In 475 career attempts, the Belmar, N.J. native has never delivered a bad snap boasting 236 long snaps and 239 short snaps.
Shimko is just one of three ACC players to be named to 25 player watchlist.
The award, named after former NFL long snapper Patrick Mannelly, is given to the top senior FBS long snapper. Created in 2019, it benefits Bernie's Book Bank, a non-profit organization in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Ten semi-finalists will be announced on November 13, 2023. These names will be narrowed to three finalists announced on November 27, 2023, and the winner will be selected at the live Award ceremony in Lake Bluff on December 9, 2023.
