
Wolfpack Selected to Host First/Second Rounds of NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS - Coming in as the No. 3 seed overall, NC State has been selected to host the first and second rounds of the 2023 NCAA Women's Tennis National Championships.Â
NC State (23-4) will face South Carolina St. (12-7) for the first time in program history in the first round on Friday, May 5th. The team will also welcome UNC Charlotte (22-6) and Kansas (14-7)Â to Raleigh for regional action.
The complete schedule for this weekend's NCAA First and Second Round action is below.
Friday, May 5

Saturday, May 6
4:00 PM - Winner of UNC Charlotte/Kansas Match vs. Winner of NC State/South Carolina State Match
All matches will be played at NC State's J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
The selection marks NC State's 13th overall NCAA Championships berth and is its seventh season in a row qualifying for the postseason even under the leadership of head coach Simon Earnshaw. The program has remained ranked in the top-10 the entire regular dual-match season, starting at No. 3 and finishing at No. 5 in the nation. The Wolfpack defeated seven top-25 opponents during regular season play and added three more throughout the ACC Tournament.Â
The milestones have continued to shatter this season for the program and individual players. Coach Earnshaw secured his 900th win early on in the season to take over as the winningest coach in program history. Alana Smith became the second player in program history to reach 100 career doubles wins and 100 career singles wins. Amelia Rajecki posted 34 singles wins, breaking the program records for most singles wins in a season. The team defeated No. 1 UNC to claim their first-ever ACC Championship while Diana Shnaider was named ACC Tournament MVP.Â
