Guard averaged 12.9 points per game last season at Butler
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State men's basketball head coach Kevin Keatts has announced that the Pack has added Jayden Taylor to the Wolfpack squad. Taylor comes to NC State from Butler and has two years of eligibility remaining.
"Jayden is a great addition to our program," Keatts said. "We had a chance to see Jayden in-person when we played Butler in the Battle for Atlantis, and I was really impressed with his game, as he scored 18 points, did a great job of penetrating our defense and also hit a few three-pointers. I think he's a natural fit in our system.
"I've enjoyed getting to know him and you can tell after spending five minutes with him that he is a young man with high character, and I think he will be great in our locker room."
Taylor started all 32 games for Butler last season, leading the Bulldogs in scoring with 12.9 points per game. He led the team in scoring 13 times, scored in double figures 23 times and boasted five games of 20 or more points. He shot 40 percent from the field, 33 percent from three-point range and made 77 percent of his free throws.
The Indianapolis native was named Big East Player of the Week on Feb. 13 after leading the Bulldogs to a win over Xavier with 20 points and posting 19 points in a win over St. John's. He scored a season-best 24 points at Georgetown when he shot 9-of-11 from the field, including 6-of-8 from three-point range.
Taylor finished his sophomore campaign with eight games of three or more three-pointers made.
As a freshman, he appeared in all 33 games for the Bulldogs, making 20 starts. He averaged 8.2 points per game and his 23 steals were the second-most on the team.
Taylor was a 2021 Indiana All-Star after averaging 25.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game at Perry Meridian High School. He was a Central Indiana boys basketball Super Team selection by the Indianapolis Star as a senior. He finished his high school career with 1,537 career points which ranked second in school history.
