GREENSBORO, N.C. — Leading the Pack to another stellar postseason run, head coach Braden Holloway collected the ninth ACC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year honor of his career, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Holloway, in his 12th year as the leader of the NC State swimming and diving programs, was recognized as the best men's swimming coach in the conference for the ninth time in the past eleven seasons. The head coach led the Pack men to another ACC team title, marking the eighth of his career.
He helped NC State's men orchestrate a dominate lead spanning all five days of the conference championship meet held in February. Notably, the Pack men accumulated the highest number of team points ever scored at the meet, topping the record they set last season with 1615 total points. On their way to the 32nd ACC Championship team title in program history, the men of NC State won all five relays and stood at the top of the podium in five individual events.Â
Wrapping up 2023 postseason action, Holloway's team qualified more men than any other program in the nation for the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, the fifth-place finishing team bringing home 41 All-American honors overall. Most notably, the NC State men won three NCAA Championship titles at the 2023 meet with individual wins in the 1650-yard freestyle (Will Gallant) and 200-yard butterfly (Aiden Hayes) and the program's first-ever 200-yard medley relay title. The quartet of Kacper Stokowski, Mason Hunter, Nyls Korstanje, and David Curtiss posted the fastest time in history to set an NCAA record en route to the victory.
Holloway's Wolfpack team is set up for continued success under his leadership next season with a number of highly-ranked recruits entering the program in the fall, in addition to a slew of returning All-Americans and NCAA and ACC Champions.
